Welcome
The club exists to promote and play the fiddle music of Scotland and meets at 2pm on the first Sunday of every month at the Adelaide High School, West Terrace, Adelaide (on the corner of Henley Beach Road).
The club caters for different levels of playing ability, with group classes for experienced players and for those who are just starting out.
These classes are for people who can already play the fiddle (or accompanying instrument) at some level. We do not teach you how to play your instrument – just the club’s repertoire of Scottish-influenced tunes
For some faster or more complicated tunes we also learn simple harmony lines so that all players can contribute to the overall performance.
In addition to our fiddle players, we have a string accompaniment section, and if you would like to participate, but are not sure whether your instrument would fit with our current grouping, just give us a call.
What we do...
At the club meetings we learn tunes from our advanced members, usually a couple each week. We also practice for our upcoming performances.
This year we're introducing "Fiddle Kids", a segment of our meeting devoted to our younger members.
There's also a small "meeting" for discussion of any issues, followed by coffee and bikkies, then the afternoon concludes with a jam session.
The Club runs a concert each year, usually in September and also performs at various folk clubs, private functions and festivals.
